Maangamizi (Afrikan hellacaust) desecration and/or denial is a form of Afriphobic racism (Afriphobia). Maangamizi denial is the act of denying the past and continuing genocide of Afrikans experienced during chattel, colonial and neo-colonial forms of enslavement. Deniers of the Maangamizi either deny that such a genocide took place and continues to occur today or minimize its extent and contemporary impact. The Maangamizi has represented an existential threat to the peoplehood and agency of people of Afrikan heritage for the past 500 + years of world history.
The European Union’s Framework Decision on Racism and Xenophobia states that publicly condoning, denying or grossly trivialising “crimes of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes as defined in the Statute of the International Criminal Court directed against a group of persons or a member of such a group defined by reference to race, colour, religion, descent or national or ethnic origin” should be made “punishable in all EU Member States.”
